Snow Days Stripe
A quick and easy Row Quilt.
To create a quick lap or crib quilt
that will finish to be 48" x 56",
refer to the instructions below.
You will need 1 Yard to begin.

"Snow Days" Row Quilt
Approximate Size 48" x 56"
You will need
1 Yard of Stripe Fabric
Cut this piece to measure 36" x 44"
1/4 Yard of Contrasting Fabric for Inner Border
Cut 4 strips 2" x width of fabric
3/4 Yard of Outer Border Fabric
Cut 5 strips 5" x width of fabric.
Join three of these strips together
to create one long strip
1/3 Yard of Binding Fabric
Cut 5 strips 2 1/4" x width of fabric.
Join these strips together with
diagonal seams to create one
long strip for binding.
3 Yards of Backing Fabric that is 45" wide
Cut 2 lengths of fabric 54" x 40".
Join to create a backing piece
that measures 54" x 80"
Lap Size Batting
(60" x 60" available from Dream Cotton)
| Assembling the Snow Days Row Quilt
All seams are 1/4"
Press all seams toward the darker fabric.
Trim your center panel to measure 36" x 44"
Begin with two inner border strips measuring 2" x 44"
Pin these strips to the sides of the quilt
matching at the center, and at the ends.
Ease if necessary.
Make your quilt fit the border strips.
Stitch. Press.
Measure across the middle
of the quilt horizontally to determine
how long to cut the top and bottom borders.
From the inner border strips,
cut two lengths to this dimension EXACTLY.
Apply the top and bottom strips
in the same manner described above.
Stitch. Press.
Repeat this process for adding
the outer borders.
Careful measuring will eliminate
"wavy" borders.
Remember to measure twice,
and cut once!
Layer the quilt top with batting
and backing.
Quilt as desired.
Bind with the 2 1/4" wide strips that you have cut.
